About
Jude McBride
I trained at The Brit School, Croydon and Falmouth University where I recently graduated with a degree in Music having specialised in drumming. I have now moved back to Central London where I grew up.
My drumming is anchored in solid rudimentary techniques allowing for me to play in a variety of genres and genre cross -overs equipping me with smooth fills and chops across the kit as well as the ability to play highly efficiently and accurately "in the pocket". My drumming influences include Cobham, Allen, Baker, Rowntree, Colaiuta, Copeland amongst a host of others.
My musical influences run from New Orleans second line through Herbie Hancock, Johnny Cash, Fela Kuti, Massive Attack and Black Midi. I am particularly interested in the place where genres cross over allowing for exploration between and beyond genre boundaries.
I wrote all the music for my band Uh Oh, Jingo! and built a strong local following in Falmouth in a thriving music scene. Drums were at the centre of what we did and I learnt techniques for picking up audience energy with certain styles and fills. I also played drums for a number of other bands including Liebeskind whose debut release “Passing Away” is now available.
I am adept on DAW (Logic Pro), with good studio skills including mic placement etc (and have perfect pitch).
My equipment includes a number of high quality snares (Ludwig, Tama, Pearl) and cymbals, two gigging kits and Clavia Nord drum for electronic input. I am based in Central London where I have a small studio and can travel as required.
I am calm, rarely flustered and committed to "no noodling".
I am highly flexible and committed to my career as a drummer.
I am excited by what the future may hold.
